Sara Matters of Training Matters LLC delivers professional dog training in your home, so the issues that are unique to your situation are addressed, on a schedule that works for you. She also offers classes at her facility in Brattleboro.
Sara focuses on both dog and household, creating a plan that accounts for what each family member can realistically contribute to teaching the essential behaviors you want as efficiently as possible. She also advises on proper confinement techniques and equipment to set you and your dog up for success. Additionally, she coaches people on the skills they need move through life with their dog.
Her goal: helping dogs and families learn what they need to live well together.
The following are Sara’s most popular in-home services:
Basic dog training:
Six or three-session packages to teach basic behaviors and management strategies where puppy training has not occurred, has been insufficient or needs refreshing. Six sessions, $400. Three sessions, $250.
Six-session packages teaching basic behaviors, management strategies, and how to address typical puppy issues such as housebreaking. $400.
An alternative six-session offering focuses on children and dogs, from The Family Dog. See more details in The Family Dog video on this page. $500.
Training to address problem behaviors such as separation difficulties, reactivity problems, walking issues, fear or aggression-based problems. $200 for consultation and training plan; $75 per training session thereafter.
Three-session packages to address typical adolescent issues of jumping up, mouthing, pulling on leash, and failing to come when called. $250.
Preparing for the new dog/puppy:
Get life with your new pet off to a good start by preparing in advance. Set up a session to review what to have in place when the dog arrives and how to proceed afterwards. $100.
Walk and trains; day training:
Training for problem walkers; in-home training on specific issues without family present. Additional sessions must be scheduled to transfer skills to owners. Fees vary based on needs and location.
Behavioral wellness checkups:
Consultation to address the overall quality of a dog’s life. Are your exercise, training and enrichment routines adequate? Is your pet bored and in need of more stimulation? Do vet or grooming visits cause fear and stress? Is your dog sensitive to handling? Set up an appointment to find solutions. $100 for the checkup. More if additional training is required.
